Evangelism Ministry Opportunities
Welcome Note Scribes: Our GUMC Scribes provide handwritten notes to new residents of Germantown with words of welcome and an invitation to join us in worship. Sitting down to draft notes is a meaningful and appreciated outreach ministry that strives to connect with those new to the area.
Monday Night Visitation Teams: The MNV Teams provide GUMC members an added way to meet and say, “thanks for worshipping with us” to GUMC first-time visitors. Once a month, teams of two provide information about the church along with delicious homemade cookies to our first-time guests the Monday after they attend worship. We encourage people of all ages to participate in this welcoming ministry.
Cookie Baker (for Monday Night Visitation): Cookie bakers prepare the delicious chocolate chip cookies the MNV Teams deliver to our visitors. The time commitment is minimal as volunteers rotate through a 3-6 month schedule. Teams usually need 5-6 dozen cookies each week.
GUMC Welcome Center Host/Hostess (Weekdays and Sunday Mornings): Our WC volunteers welcome members and visitors with warm smiles, caring spirits, and generous intent. Whether assisting with directions to a particular classroom, finding out information for a guest, or reviewing upcoming small group offerings with a GUMC member . . . our Welcome Center Hosts and Hostesses communicate the generous spirit through their role within Evangelism Ministries.
Sunday Morning Greeters: Our GUMC Greeters are those kind faced, warm-hearted volunteers who want you to know that when you enter the doors of Germantown United Methodist Church you are welcome and we are glad you are with us. Sunday morning greeters are positioned at the three main entrances of the church to hold the door for you and say, “good morning” with a smile. We’d love to expand this ministry to include Greeters in the Narthex and Fellowship Hall that can be on the lookout for visitors and answer questions about locations and church programs.
