First Visit

We all were new, at one time, and we remember what it’s like. So here’s some information, because it’s easier to venture into a new place when you know what to expect.

About 1,000 people attend Germantown UMC each Sunday and our volunteers are here to welcome you and help you find your way. Our congregation spans a range of ages and backgrounds. The pastors typically dress in their robes, but you’ll see people in the congregation dressed in all styles—from jeans to business suits.

Sunday morning worship services are held at 8:30, 9:40, and 11:00 a.m. We have over 20 adult Sunday School classes to choose from at all three times.

The 9:40 and 11:00 a.m. services include children’s sermons except on communion Sundays. Although we encourage children of all ages to attend worship with their families, we do offer childcare for preschoolers during all services. The nursery/preschool area is located directly behind the narthex on the same level as the sanctuary.

Help on Sundays
If you have questions about worship or classes, a Welcome Center team helper can answer your questions or direct you to someone who can assist. Our volunteers can help you navigate the campus to locate all of our children and youth programs as well as Sunday School classes. Welcome volunteers also can pass information to staff if you need to talk in depth with someone in the church office.

Getting Connected
Getting connected at Germantown UMC is about creating relationships that simply don’t develop by attending worship services. Relationships require time to build. One way you can get connected is by joining a small group or Sunday School class.
