Children
Jesus said, “Let the little children come to me, and do not hinder them, for the kingdom of heaven belongs to such as these.” (Matthew 19:14)
We offer a safe, positive, nurturing learning environment for children that seeks to establish a firm foundation for their spiritual growth.
Sunday School (Grace Place)
We offer classes for children in kindergarten through 6th grades at 9:40 and 11:00 a.m. We believe in helping our little ones grow in grace, and we are committed to providing opportunities for them to do just that, GROW. All children gather in the chapel for opening assembly, then proceed to classrooms by grade level groups for experiential learning. (Located in the education building, south of the sanctuary.)
Preschool and Nursery. Located across from the sanctuary, nursery care is available for infants and toddlers during our Sunday morning worship services at 8:30, 9:40 and 11:00. We welcome babies at any age. Children, ages 2 -5 are also provided childcare during our 8:30 service. Bible stories, crafts, and snacks are provided at 9:40 and a.m. All children are divided by age and developmental readiness and placed in rooms accordingly.
Elementary Grace Place. Grace Place is the Sunday School program for children in senior kindergarten through 5th grade, offered from 9:40-10:40 or 11:00-12:00. All children gather in the Chapel for opening assembly, then proceed to classrooms by grade level groups for experiential learning. On August 15 we began our 6-week rotation theme, “Acceptance: Peter and Cornelius.” As children rotate weekly through fun stations—Crafts, Games, Science, Snack, Story, and Video—they will learn that God’s love is for all people. Just as Peter accepted Cornelius and other Gentiles into the community of faith, we can accept others despite their differences. When we learn to love and accept our own unique gifts, we can learn to accept others. We can also be sensitive to our own behaviors that may show prejudice.
Acolyte Sign-Up and Training. (If you are in the fourth, fifth or sixth grade, you may train to become an acolyte! Acolytes are a very important part of the worship service. A training session will be held in the church sanctuary on Wednesday, September 1 from 5-6 p.m. Youwill need to bring a parent with you to the session. If you would like to serve your church as an acolyte and have not signed up, please pick up a form at the Information Center (at the entrance to the Mike Wilson Fellowship Hall) in the space designated “Acolyte Information” or at the Grace Place sign-in table. Leave the completed form in the Acolyte Information box. If you are already serving as an acolyte, but would like a “refresher” course, you are also welcome to attend the training session with a parent. Please contact Jan Corkern at 757-0326 or jancorkern@yahoo.com if you have any questions.
