Missions Philosophy

At GUMC, we see ourselves as “sent” people. We are sent into the world by Jesus to continue the restoring and healing ministries He started while on this earth. Our vision is to become a church where our primary focus is outward to those beyond our culture and context. We are committed to enabling and fostering the spiritual growth of our members through their engagement in missions. Our goal is to have our entire membership involved in missions in some capacity. God has given each of us different gifts for the building of His kingdom, but we are all called to serve.

Matthew 28:19

Go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Spirit, and teaching them to obey everything that I have commanded you.”

Upcoming Events

Room In The Inn Needs Your Support. GUMC will host guests Nov. 4 through March 31. Please make financial donations to GUMC with RITI in the memo line. We are collecting men’s boxer shorts, women’s underwear, sports bras, socks, gloves, coffee, sugar, powdered creamer, razors, shaving cream, toothbrushes, toothpaste, spray deodorant, and large bottles of body wash. Leave donations in drawer marked RITI near the Fellowship Hall.

Bringing Hope. Do you have an hour each week to help children in the classroom or lunchroom? Hope Presbyterian, which partners with GUMC in Team Read, seeks volunteers at Scholars Academy/Caldwell-Guthrie for grades K-5. Go almost any day, any hour as long as you are consistent. No training is required. Contact Jackie Flaum at jrflaum@yahoo.com for details or to sign up.
