Nursery

nurseryGUMC’s nursery program provides your youngest children a safe, encouraging, and loving environment while their families attend church events such as Sunday worship or Wednesday Night Dinner. Our excellent nursery staff is always eager to see new faces and facilitate your family’s participation in church events.

Children are of course welcome in our worship services, and a nursing mother’s room is just across the narthex from the Sanctuary.

Nursery (Birth-13 months)

What to Bring

Please include the following in your child’s diaper bag: two to three diapers, a change of clothes in case of an accident, a bottle/sippy cup of formula, milk, water and/or juice. Please make sure the diaper bag and everything in it (bottles, change of clothes, pacifiers, etc.) are labeled.

Arrival Procedures

The safety and happiness of your child are important to us. To make this a speedy, smooth process, please follow these instructions: Please sign your child in at the Welcome Desk and receive a beeper.  Then, take your child into the infant suite (behind the Welcome Desk and to your left. There is an information sheet for the nursery workers that will allow them to follow your child’s schedule while he/she is in our care. Please do not enter the half-door. Opening and closing this door disturbs the children as they are aware that their mother/father has not returned. In addition, crawlers may be exploring just behind the door, and we do not want anyone to be pinched, to escape, or be hit by a door! Please exit the infant suite via the east side door.

Pickup Procedures

Return your beeper to the Welcome Desk and sign your child out.  Then, go to the Infant Suite to pick up your child. Workers will be happy to answer your questions. Again, please do not open the half door. The workers will hand your child and his/her bags over the door to you.

Feedings and Snacks

Infants will be bottle-fed according to each individual child’s schedule. On Sunday mornings we are not able to feed children meals or jar food. However, we offer peanut-free snacks, including Cheerios, Goldfish, and animal crackers to children who are developmentally ready to chew. Please alert a worker if your child has food allergies.

Health Policy

Children will not be accepted in the nursery or classroom if they have any of the following:
