We’re a 175 year-old community of believers in the heart of Germantown, TN. We strive to be the kind of church God intended: one that meets in loving worship, gathers to grow in faith and knowledge, and reaches out into the community to serve our brothers and sisters. Love, Grow, Serve is more than a motto – see for yourself.
GUMC is part of the Memphis conference of the United Methodist Church. Methodism traces its roots back to the preacher John Wesley, pictured left. If you’re interested in learning more about the history of our denomination, sign up for our Methodist Traditions and Beliefs class.
We have two distinct Sunday morning worship services. Get an in-depth look at our services on our Elements of Worship page.
All of our worship service are held in the Sanctuary.
The same United Methodist worship service you’ve come to know and love at GUMC, with robed clergy, classic hymns, and communion on the first Sunday of every month.
The Ancient-Modern service, introduced in 2014, blends traditional worship elements with modern Christian music.
Located across from the sanctuary, nursery care is available for infants and toddlers during our Sunday morning worship services at 8:30, 9:40 and 11:00. We welcome babies at any age. Children, ages 2-5 are also provided childcare during our 8:30 service. Bible stories, crafts, and snacks are provided at 9:40 and a.m. All children are divided by age and developmental readiness and placed in rooms accordingly.
