Sunday School & Small Group Classes
There’s a Seat Saved for You
The Christian faith is grounded in the love and grace of God, experienced through Jesus Christ, and empowered by the Holy Spirit. The Christian life is our response to God’s love and grace. The church calls our response to God; Christian discipleship. Discipleship focuses on actively following in the footsteps of Jesus. As Christian disciples, we are not passive spectators but energetic participants in God’s activity in the world.

While worship is central to Germantown United Methodist Church (GUMC), it is only part of the “disciple making” experience of following Christ. Small group studies enhance the worship experience by providing opportunities to learn more about the Bible, discuss current issues, develop close personal friendships, grow in faith and learn how to apply the Christian faith in real life situations. Below is a list of our upcoming small group studies. For more information contact Mary Groh at [email protected]

BELIEVING JESUS
A Journey Through the book of ACTS
Wednesdays, April 8 – May 27, 9:45-11:45 am; via Zoom; Facilitator: Chesley Porteous; Cost: $18.00
Throughout the Book of Acts, believing Jesus and what he said is the core value that marked every believer in the first church. In this eight-session women’s video Bible study, author Lisa Harper launches into the book of Acts to discover how Jesus’ command to spread the gospel changed the lives of those who believed and shaped the culture that surrounded the growing church. Join us for this journey through the Biblical stories of the early Christian movement and see what kind of wild adventurers await those who truly believe Jesus.
THE MEANS OF GRACE
Tuesdays, April 21 – May 26, 10:00 – 11:30 A.M; Teacher: Rev. Rick Pinkston; Cost: FREE
One phrase you might hear United Methodists use often is “Means of Grace”, but what does that phrase mean? The Means of Grace are vital practices we engage in every day to deepen our relationship with God, live out the teachings of Christ, and allow the Holy Spirit to grant us renewed hope and strength in our spiritual journey. They include Prayer, Searching the Scriptures, Christian Conferencing (or Conversation), Fasting, Sacraments (The Lord’s Supper and Baptism) and Acts of Mercy.
This six-week study will look at Grace as the cornerstone of the United Methodist Church’s understanding of the way God relates to humankind. Join Rick Pinkston as together we will see how we can take these practices out of theoretical consideration and incorporate them into our living so that we might experience God and God’s grace more fully.
There is no cost for the study, but we do need you to register.
